Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 25, 2026

Overview

Orbit 2026 is a satellite tracking application built by David Hodge. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Data We Collect

Email addresses (website only): If you request TestFlight beta access through our website, we collect your email address and optional comment. This data is stored securely in Supabase and used solely to send you TestFlight invitations.

Satellite data: The apps fetch publicly available Two-Line Element (TLE) orbital data from CelesTrak.org. This is satellite position data, not personal data.

No analytics or tracking: We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not collect device identifiers, location data, usage patterns, or browsing history.

Data Stored on Your Device

The iOS app and macOS screensaver store satellite orbital data locally on your device using an SQLite database. This data is fetched from public sources and contains no personal information. It is used solely to display satellite positions and is not transmitted to any server.

Third-Party Services

  • CelesTrak (celestrak.org) — Provides public satellite TLE data. Their privacy policy applies to their service.
  • Supabase — Hosts our TestFlight request form data. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
  • Apple TestFlight — Used for iOS beta distribution. See Apple Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

TestFlight request emails are retained until beta access is granted, then deleted. If you'd like your email removed sooner, contact us at david@davidhodge.net.

Children's Privacy

Orbit 2026 does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You may request deletion of any personal data we hold (email address from TestFlight requests) by emailing david@davidhodge.net. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes

We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
